- Born in Iowa, died in 2012 at the age of 84. His birth name was Howard Andrew Williams.
- Andy was famous for his Christmas albums – he recorded eight in his career. Every Christmas, I listen to the Merry Christmas album from Columbia Records, issued in 1965. The album was certified platinum in 1989. The Christmas single It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year charted on the Billboard Hot 100 chart around Christmas time every year from 2016 to 2025.
- He hosted a variety show (remember those?) in the 60s that was wildly popular. Called The Andy Williams Show, it won three Emmy Awards during its run from 1962 to 1971.
- He released 43 studio albums between 1956 and 2007. Singles that reached #1 on various Billboard charts were Butterfly (in 1957), Can’t Get Used to Losing You (in 1963), In the Arms of Love (in 1966), Happy Heart (in 1969) and (Where Do I Begin) Love Story in 1971.
- In 1991, Andy built the Andy Williams Moon River Theater in Branson Missouri. After he died, his ashes were distributed in the artificial river that is part of the complex. Jimmy Osmond – the youngest of the Osmond Brothers – took over the theater in 2014. It was sold in 2021, and then sold again in 2024 and is under transformation into a Bible-themed attraction.
- Williams was a classic 60’s crooner. I loved the sound of his singing voice. Listen to his classic, Moon River. This song was the theme song to the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s.
