- Seattle based rock band, formed in 1994. Initially, there was only one member – Dave Grohl, formerly the drummer for Nirvana, which ended with the death of Kurt Cobain. Other members ultimately were recruited by Grohl to join the band. The classic lineup is Grohl (vocals and guitar), Pat Smear (lead guitar), Chris Shiflett (guitar and backing vocals), Nate Mendel (bass), and Taylor Hawkins (drums/percussion and backing vocals). Hawkins died in 2022 at the age of 50 – he was found with ten different substances in his body at the time of death. Josh Freese replaced Hawkins on drums.

It topped the album charts in the UK, it reached #8 on the Billboard 200, and it reached #1 on the Billboard Top Alternative Albums and Top Hard Rock Albums charts.
