Michael Bublé

  • Canadian singer, songwriter born in 1975 in Burnaby British Columbia Canada.
  • Bublé dreamed of being a singer when he was very young. His family first realized his potential when he was 13, and by 16 he was singing in nightclubs, encouraged by his grandfather. His grandfather had a collection of jazz records, and Bublé listened to them constantly as he grew up. At 18, he won a talent contest, but was disqualified for being underage. He then entered the Canadian Youth Talent Search and won that event. Over the next 7 years, we worked as a singer at whatever venue would take him – from conventions to clubs to cruise ships.
  • Struggling to start a recording career, he self-financed 2 albums of old jazz standards in 2000 and 2001, titled BaBalu (named after the Vancouver night club where he frequently performed), and Dream. An aide to the Canadian Prime Minister saw Bublé perform at a business function and received a copy of BaBalu. The aide showed it to the Prime Minister, who invited Bublé to perform at his daughter’s wedding. A record executive was at the wedding. Though initially reluctant to sign Bublé, Bublé was signed after the executive’s friend and music legend Paul Anka approved of the singer.
  • Bublé’s self titled debut album, Michael Bublé, was released in 2003. It contained a combination of jazz and pop standards with a crooner sound. It landed in the top 10 in several markets, including Canada, Australia and UK. In the U.S. it peaked at #47 on the Billboard 200 album chart. His later popularity led to continued sales of the album, and it has been certified platinum.
  • Appearances in the media and a successful worldwide tour led to his second album, It’s Time, released in 2005. It spent a record 78 weeks at #1 on the Jazz Albums chart, and it peaked at #7 on the Billboard 200. It was certified 3x platinum in 2008. In addition to the covers of jazz and pop standards, it included the song Home, which he co-wrote. It was his first song to chart on the Hot 100, and it reached #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart.
  • His next 4 albums all reached #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. 2007’s Call Me Irresponsible included the song Everything, co-written by Bublé, selling over 1 million copies. Crazy Love in 2009 contained his highest charting single, Haven’t Met You Yet, another song he co-wrote – it reached #24 on the Hot 100, and #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart. His Christmas album in 2011, simply titled Christmas, became his best selling record worldwide, with over 10 million copies sold. It won a Juno Award (Canada’s version of the Grammy Award) for Album of the Year – the first holiday album ever to win this award. 2013’s To Be Loved was his sixth consecutive album with over 1 million copies sold in the U.S.
  • His most recent album, Nobody But Me, was released in 2016. That year, a Michael Bublé branded perfume also was introduced. He will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2019. In recent times, he has been less visible – no tours since 2015, as he has been staying home with his young family, particularly since his son born in 2013 has liver cancer.
  • Fans of the crooner style of the 40s and 50s consider Bublé as one of the best in today’s music world. Here is his video for a live performance of the song Feeling Good.
