Bob Dylan Cover Songs

The AWESOME! page has random music stuff that I think is cool. You never know what you will find here!

One year ago (June 7, 2017), I posted an AWESOME! post about Beatles’ cover songs – the most covered artist in music history.

Now, a few words about the second most covered artist – Bob Dylan. Wikipedia lists over 1,500 Dylan songs that have been covered by over 600 different artists, ranging from Adele (Make You Feel My Love) to Warren Zevon (Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door). His most covered song? Blowin’ In The Wind has been covered by 63 different artists (and probably many more). Second most – Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright has 50 covers.

Watch these videos of the 3 most popular Dylan covers. These versions were even bigger than the Dylan originals – by far.

Guns N’ Roses – Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door

The Byrds – Mr. Tambourine Man

Jimi Hendrix – All Along The Watchtower (The live versions on YouTube all suck, so I’m linking just to an audio version)

  1. The Bob Dylan 30th anniversary concert has 27 Dylan songs covered by various artists. It has a great, All Star version of “My Back Pages”. I’d recommend giving it a listen.
