Schindler’s List Soundtrack

The AWESOME! page has random music stuff that I think is cool. You never know what you will find here!

The movie Schindler’s List, Steven Spielberg’s Oscar winning masterpiece from 1993, is the most emotional film I have ever watched. The powerful movie is greatly enhanced by the film score, written by John Williams.

Williams is a prolific composer, and has written soundtracks for over 100 films and TV shows, including some of the biggest ever – Star Wars, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jaws, Fiddler on the Roof, and Home Alone to name a few. He also was principal conductor of the Boston Pops from 1980 to 1993. He has won 5 Academy awards, and 23 Grammy awards, including winning these awards for Schindler’s List.

For the movie, Spielberg asked Williams to compose the music. When Spielberg showed Williams the first cut of the film, Williams was so moved that he had to collect himself. He told Spielberg that he deserved a better composer. Spielberg’s response was “I know, but they’re all dead.”

The Theme From Schindler’s List is the first track on the soundtrack. The masterpiece is performed by renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman. It is the perfect musical representation of this movie. Watch Perlman perform – a true virtuoso!
