Tony Award Winners

The AWESOME! page has random music stuff that I think is cool. You never know what you will find here!

Last Sunday, the 71st Tony Awards were announced. This year’s Best Musical was Dear Evan Hansen and the Best Musical Revival was Hello Dolly! The first Tony Award for Best Musical was in 1949, for Kiss Me Kate.

I greatly enjoy music from theater, and have many soundtracks in my music collection.

Here are clips from 3 winning musicals that have special records.

Springtime for Hitler from The Producers, the most winning show, with wins in 12 categories.

Here’s the performance (and the intro by Barack and Michelle Obama) at last year’s Tony Awards of Hamilton, the most nominated show, with 16 nominations.

Phantom of the Opera, the longest running winner, with over 16,000 performances on Broadway, and still going strong. And…my favorite show.
