The MARK’S VINTAGE VINYL page features something from Mark’s collection of recordings from over the years. Most of it is on vinyl – hence the name – though there will be a few entries from his CDs (remember those?).
Rebel Yell, by Billy Idol
- Released in 1983, it was the second studio album by British new wave/rocker Billy Idol.
- The album and song title were inspired when Idol was at party with the Rolling Stones, and they were drinking Rebel Yell whiskey.
- The album was very successful, selling over 2 million copies in the U.S., and peaking at #6 on the Billboard 200 chart.
- The song Rebel Yell instantly became a classic when I saw the video a thousand times on MTV, as it did for every other male at the time between 15 and 30 years old. In case you missed it then, here’s the classic video. Or, if you caught it before, you can cry “more, more, more!” Damn, I love watching this video. It is sooo over the top decadent early 80s! How does Billy do that thing with his lip?! And the chick on the keyboards? And the lead guitarist? Amazing!!!
