The MARK’S VINTAGE VINYL page features something from Mark’s collection of recordings from over the years. Most of it is on vinyl – hence the name – though there will be a few entries from his CDs (remember those?).
Moving Waves, by Focus
- This is the second studio album by the Dutch band named Focus, released in October 1971.
- It is by far their most popular album, thanks to their hit single Hocus Pocus. The album reached #2 in the UK, and #8 in the U.S.
- The song Hocus Pocus, by Focus, is a classic kick-ass rock song from the early 70s. It is unique in the vocal arrangement, which includes yodeling. Yes…yodeling!
- It’s really impossible to describe this song. I’ve watched a few live versions of it – there is just too much chaos to show those versions here. You have to hear it to believe it…so here it is, the studio version of the song.
I never fully appreciated the yodeling in this song until Mark pointed it
out.
